Episode 1: Back To School, Mr Bean

Evelyn kicks off the series by visiting several students involved in the project. She goes to Bukit Timah Primary School and the Ministry of Education to talk with the teachers and staff involved in selecting the best pieces to be published. In the library, she learns how to use the microfilm to browse copies of the local newspapers back to the 1840s, and finds out why a junior college student prefers to look at picture books than browse the Internet for her research. She tries to come up with a poem, but her primary school guest beats her to it. She plays soccer, fails to get aboard Singapore's first submarine, and helps to make and sell tapioca dessert. She also meets a family that has been naturalised in Singapore, and Singapore's first quintuplets.
